Pointers for Praise Teams is a site that is intended to assist those who lead congregational singing in the Church of Jesus Christ.
It is my belief that congregational singing is one of the most enriching experiences a believer in Jesus Christ can have as a member of the body of Christ.
Many Christians can remember times when they participated in congregational singing that lifted their spirits and gave them a sense of being in the very presence of God.
What was it about that occasion that made it “successful”? What is it that makes congregational singing “successful”? Are there certain principles that can “guarantee” success? Are there certain methods that can be used? Are there mistakes we need to avoid? Can worship leaders and praise team members make a difference? What role does the congregation play? The pastor/minister?
It is my firm belief that there are principles that we can apply to our congregational singing that will greatly increase the likelihood of that activity being a source of joy and pleasure for all participating in it.
That is what this site is all about, and I hope that with time I will be able to share what I believe some of those principles are. My desire is that through all the future activities on this site, God’s name will be glorified, and the joy of his people in singing to the praise of his name will be increased in many places.
May God bless you in your ministry, whether you are a worship leader, praise team member, pastor or congregant. May you be enriched and inspired by your perusal of this site.
